Venice guide for beginners

image

There is no other city like Venice. You have to experience it in person because pictures don’t do it justice. I didn’t really know what to expect going there. I didn’t know that the whole city was an island built on water and you can only walk or take boats to get anywhere. I also didn’t know our hotel was off of Venice on its own little island. We got there and had to take a ferry ride to where our hotel shuttle boat was.

You have to go to the San Marco Square and go to St. Marks Basilica. I don’t think you’re supposed to take pictures of it but I HAD to. It was so beautiful. I said it was the prettiest church I’ve ever seen, but all the churches in Europe just get prettier and prettier.

If you want to go out at night, go to Santa Margherita Square.

Also, checkout Acqua Alta Bookshop, the coolest little book store right on the canal. You can bring food and drinks and read a book right on the water. Of course we were having a photo shoot on the book stair case leading up to the canal.
