Even though we aren’t traveling together full time yet, we were able to meet up a few times in Australia. Christina started off her trip staying with a friend and her family in the central coast and Toni is working in the mines so she can save up money for the rest of our round the world trip.
Getting ready for Australia– You need to go on the Australian government website and apply for the visa. It costs $20US. While you’re in Australia the cheapest airline is Jetstar. They have a good deals for beating the price of other airlines. If you find a cheaper flight on a different airline that is within one hour of theirs, they will beat the price by 10%.
Australia phone plans– If you are staying there for a while the best option for a phone plan is Telstra. Most places there don’t have free wifi so it’s better to go for the best data package. It costs $50AUD a month for free calls and texts to other Australian numbers, a credit to use for international calls and 5 GB’s of data. It automatically comes with 2.5 GBs. You have to call and ask them to use your credit towards extra data to get you the 5 GB. (They don’t tell you that when you are purchasing it.)
