Where to go in Santorini, Greece

Santorini was one of the prettiest places I’ve ever seen. We stayed with someone on couch surfing that lived near the main downtown area of Fira. It’s the center of the island where all the nightlife and restaurants are. There’s a main bus station there if you want to go to different parts of the island it doesn’t take that long to get anywhere.

When you see pictures of Santorini it’s normally of Oia. Oia was the most beautiful part of our Greece adventure. It’s a seaside village of white and blue Greek style hotels, homes, restaurants, churches, and boutiques. It gets really crowded with tourists at night taking pictures of the amazing sunset.

We went out in Fira one night to a few bars including, highlander, a dive bar with dancing, and tango, a really nice bar right on the cliff over looking the water. In Fira there are gyro restaurants everywhere. We had a gyro at least once a day in Greece. Gyros are the pita wraps filled with chicken or pork, French fries, lettuce, tomato and tzaziki sauce for $2.50 euros.

We took a bus to Perissa Beach, it was the black sand beach on the opposite side of the island from Fira.
