Salzburg is so pretty, it’s kind of like a ferry tale. It’s where the musical, The Sound of Music took place. It’s not a very big city, so you can easily see it all in a day. We took a 2 1/2 hour train ride from Vienna for 25 euros to see Salzburg.
There’s a fortress at the top of the hill that has a couple museums that you can take a gondola ride up to or you can just walk up. We didn’t go inside but walked up and took some pictures of the city. It also had one of the prettiest cemeteries I’ve ever seen. We walked around and went into some of the churches and found a beer garden that had bratwursts for lunch.
Go to Cafe Tomaselli, one of the cutest oldest restaurants in Salzburg. It’s been there since 1703. You can go up to the top patio and order coffee and dessert.
