Hong Kong is known for its beautiful hikes, the best food, and it’s crazy nightlife. The Morning Trail Hike has amazing views from  bottom to top.

If your looking for a cheap place to stay, most of the affordable hostels are in Kowloon.  If you can, find someone on couchsurfing that’s willing to give you a place to stay and show you around. I stayed with someone on Hong Kong island and its a little nicer then staying in Kowloon. It really doesn’t matter where you stay because he MTR system makes it so easy to get around.

Window shopping in Kowloon

For the best view of the city at night, go to the top floor of the Ritz Carlton in Kowloon. The bar on the 113th floor opens at 5.

In Kowloon I found a lot of little hole in the wall dumpling restaurants. You can get a bowl of soup with noodles, meat balls and dumplings for really cheap.

I found a lot of really nice restaurants on Hong Kong Island. For a good western breakfast go to Brews Bros or The Cupping Room for a good coffee and avocado and eggs on toast. I’ve never had better steamed buns in my life. Always find the spot where all of the locals are because then you know it’s really good. Go to Tim Ho Wan for the best BBQ pork buns you’ve ever had.  Also check out Noodlemi for a good Pho soup, the best cabbage chicken salad, or an Asian style sandwich. Chili Fagara isn’t super cheap like the other ones but it’s a cute little restaurant in SoHo. We got a few dishes to share, and the noodles in peanut sauce was nothing like I’ve ever had before. So good! Good place to go before a night out in LKF.

Hong Kong is the coolest city I’ve ever seen at night. Take the ferry over from Hong Kong island to kowloon to watch the light show every night at 8.

Check out Stanley, on the south side of the island. They have markets during the day and bars across the street from the sand that are fun at night.
